#Simple Installation#For most users
###Blender###Install Blender, if you haven't already. The add-on require at least Blender version 2.78a.
###RenderMan###Download and Install RenderMan. At a minimum you need to install RenderMan Pro Server. As of Renderman 21, the IT viewer and LocalQueue render manager are part of the Pro Server package, and you no longer need to install Renderman for Maya. If you choose to not install RenderMan to the default location you will have to additionally follow an advanced step below, thus, it is recommended to install to the default path.
###PRMan-for-Blender Add-on###Download this add-on. This is the only place to find the official RfB release. Do not download it from anywhere else.
Unzip and install the addon folder
Option A: If the file is still zipped, unzip the PRMan-for-Blender-master.zip file.Take the PRMan-for-Blender-master folder and move it to the Addons folder in your Blender install.For more options of places to install the addon follow these instructions.
Option B: In Blender open the User Preferences window. Under the 'Add-ons' tab select 'Install from File' and locate the zipped 'PRMan-for-Blender-master' folder. Double-click on the zipped folder and the add-on will install.

Option C: For Mac OSX only. Right click on the Blender app and choose 'Show Package Contents'. Navigate to: Contents -> Resources -> 2.75 -> scripts -> addons and paste the unzipped folder here.

Enable the addon. Activate the plugin with the checkbox under Add-ons. It is found at 'Blender > Info Editor > File > User Preferences > Add-ons > (Categories) Render > Render: PRMan Render Engine'.Optionally click on (User Preferences) Save User Settings. This will activate the addon next time you start Blender as well.

Switch Render Engine in Blender to PRMan Render using the Info Editor bar. Optionally click on Info Editor > File > Save Startup File. This will save PRMan as the default renderer when starting Blender.

#Advanced Installation#Only use if Pixar's RenderMan Pro Server was installed to a non default location

The PRMan for Blender addon automatically finds the latest version of RenderMan Pro Server and sets itself up to use that. However, if you installed RenderMan Pro Server to a non-default directory or want to use a specific version (not just the latest installed) you need an additional step. Simply set the RMANTREE environment variable to point at the directory where RenderMan Pro Server is installed.
